Practice Policies
At Kindred Heart Animal Hospital, we serve pets by caring deeply for them and their people.
We believe that exceptional veterinary care is built on relationships—between our team, your pet, and you. Every policy we uphold is designed to support a compassionate, calm, and collaborative experience. Our approach is rooted in kindness, clarity, and respect—for every heartbeat we’re entrusted to care for.
Our Approach to Care
Every pet is unique, and so is our care.
We use a gentle, individualized approach to ensure your pet feels safe, seen, and supported. Our team is trained in low-stress handling techniques, and we may recommend calming aids or pre-visit medications if anxiety is high. We will never force, frighten, or push a pet past their comfort zone—because earning their trust is essential to lifelong wellness.

Respect for One Another
We care for your pets as if they were our own—and we treat you like family.
In return, we ask for mutual respect. We are here to listen, explain, and support. We do not tolerate abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behavior toward our team. Kindness is our policy, always.
Thank You for Your Partnership
Kindred Heart is more than a name—it is a reflection of how we serve. We are here to partner with you through every stage of your pet’s life: the joyful beginnings, the bumps in the road, and even the difficult goodbyes.
We love what we do, and we’re grateful you trust us to be a part of your pet’s story.

Our Scheduling Promise
We work hard to be efficient, but never rushed.
Each day we balance wellness visits, same-day sick appointments, surgeries, and grooming. Veterinary medicine can be unpredictable, and we appreciate your understanding if delays arise. We promise to communicate clearly and prioritize the well-being of every pet—yours included.
We are legally and ethically required to maintain an up-to-date veterinary-patient-client relationship. That means we must have a current physical exam on file in order to provide care, prescribe medications, or admit your pet for services like boarding or grooming.
If your pet needs an exam, a visit with the veterinarian is required. To ensure continuity, we’ll always try to schedule follow-up visits with the same doctor.
Running Behind or Waitlist
Sometimes best care takes extra time. Whether it’s drawing labs, comforting an anxious pet, or answering a question thoroughly, every five extra minutes adds up.
If we fall behind, please know we’re giving each pet the same level of attention your pet will receive when it’s their turn.
If you’re running late, call us right away. We’ll do our best to accommodate, but arrivals outside the grace period may be rescheduled—and subject to our cancellation policy.

Deposits & Cancellations
Time is precious—for you, for us, and for the pets who need care.
To make the most of every appointment, we require deposits for certain services such as surgeries, extended visits, or high-demand appointment slots. Cancellations with short notice or missed appointments may result in a forfeited deposit. This helps us stay available for those who need us most.
Referrals & Emergency Care
Some situations require advanced care we cannot provide in-house. In these cases, a referral is not a refusal—it is a commitment to what’s best for your pet.
We are not an emergency or urgent care facility. If your pet requires immediate or specialized treatment, we’ll help you connect with a trusted hospital equipped to provide the right level of care. Our team is always here to guide you.
